In 1969, when Neil Armstrong set afoot on the moon, the world heralded the brilliance of our scientific progress, and in a recent announcement by a private firm, commercial operations to the moon will start in the year 2020. In fifty years, scientific expedition has given way to leisure!
Golden Spike Co., a start-up, which boasts of impressive ex-NASA names is all set to make the lunar trip possible for a price of 750 million dollars. People who book the tickets now at this price can expect to take off in seven years from now – if still fit and alive of course.
The lunar travel will not have a pilot flying the rocket and the capsule, instead it will be operated remotely from the command center on earth. Only the passengers would be flying – so if anything happens, only those paying for the trip have themselves to blame. The company is currently working on setting up a lunar base to aid the landing – read as avoiding craters.
Golden Spike believes that the initial space travelers would come from countries who have longed for setting up their own moon missions but in vain. They are clear on one thing though – China and other anti-US muslim countries are not allowed to set foot anywhere close to the rockets.
It is understood that the Obama administration and NASA are keen to see this take off, especially after the rebuke they received from the National Research Council. The report read that NASA has failed to come up with a robust strategy for human spaceflight.
So far, twelve humans have walked on the moon. List as below.
